  27. fdc's post pretty much sums up the limitations of
  28. xmodem.  one other significant limitation that he
  29. overlooked is that xmodem pads files to 128-byte
  30. boundaries.

  32. while this is not typically a problem for text
  33. files,  it can make the transfer of binary files
  34. a pretty grim affair.

  36. i'm not intending this as a cheap-shot against
  37. ward's original word;  it was great in the early
  38. 1980's.  things have progressed significantly.

  40. perhaps you've got enough flexibility to consider
  41. other protocols?  i'm a fan of both zmodem and
  42. kermit.  public domain source code is available for
  43. both ...
